Major research contributions / notable work

Soil and water conservation measures, Water harvesting structures and multi-tier land use systems for Cashew based land use systems were developed, demonstrated in the farmers field and it was adopted by Goan farmers in larger scale. Smaller farm ponds lined with silpaulin poly films demonstrated during the year 2000 at Goa was reached farmers within four years in entire state of Goa and the Goa Government announced subsidy for that technology during year 2009. Developed multiple water use system for enhancement of land productivity and livelihood security of small of Nilgiris through multiple use of harvested rainwater. Hydrological behaviors of jute Geotextiles laid fields have been studied first time and geo-jute fabrics suitable for slope stabilization has been standardized. Trenching dimensions for Western Ghat regions (Goa and Nilgiris) were standardized. Soil and water conservation Package and practices for rehabilitation of Iron ore mine dumps and rehabilitation of mercury contaminated soil were derived. Visited Israel and Germany for training on hydrology and meteorology and exploit the possibility of collaborative research projects between India and Germany. Evaluated impact of watershed development projects under NWDPRA, River Valley Projects and ICRISAT Technology Adopted watersheds in Tamil Nadu and recommendations were submitted to the concern agencies.
